Company's CFO FCOE FC AMR ATM2 team delivers accounting and reporting services to several international business areas, primarily Exploration & Production International (EPI) and Power (PWR). The team operates across multiple European locations (Stavanger, Oslo, Rotterdam, Mechelen) in close collaboration with an offshore delivery team (Accenture, Bangalore). The delivery model combines in-house expertise with outsourced accounting activities. We are seeking a Principal Accounting Consultant to strengthen the team with an experienced, independent professional who can take ownership of accounting deliverables, ensure quality across the delivery chain, and handle complex accounting topics.

Job responsibilities:
The primary objective is to ensure additional high-quality financial close and reporting capacity, while strengthening control, improving processes, and acting as a knowledgeable counterpart in a hybrid (internal + outsourced) accounting model.

The consultant is expected to operate independently and take responsibility across both execution and oversight.
1. Financial Close & Reporting
•    Execute and oversee day-to-day accounting activities
•    Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities
•    Prepare and analyse financial reporting, including variance analysis and tax calculations
•    Support preparation of annual financial statements and statutory reporting
2. Entity Ownership & Control
•    Take ownership of the accounting for one or more legal entities
•    Ensure completeness, accuracy, and quality of financials
•    Perform balance sheet reconciliations (including sub-ledgers, intercompany, and suspense accounts)
•    Conduct accounting risk assessments and ensure proper documentation
3. Technical Accounting
•    Analyse and resolve non-standard or complex accounting transactions
•    Prepare clear and well-documented accounting memoranda
•    Apply and document accounting treatment under IFRS and Norwegian GAAP
4. Oversight of Outsourced Delivery
•    Collaborate with Accenture on standard accounting activities
•    Review, challenge, and quality assure outsourced work
•    Ensure alignment between onshore and offshore activities
5. Stakeholder Interaction
•    Act as a key contact for internal stakeholders
•    Explain financial results and resolve open accounting issues
•    Support internal and external audits
6. Continuous Improvement
•    Identify and drive process improvements
•    Contribute to digitalisation and optimisation initiatives
•    Strengthen efficiency and control environment

Your experience and qualifications:
Must-Have Requirements:
•    Minimum 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience in a corporate environment
•    Strong experience with financial close and reporting processes
•    Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables
•    Solid knowledge of IFRS
•    Experience with Norwegian GAAP (practical application preferred)
•    Hands-on experience in SAP (preferably S/4HANA)
•    Experience in preparing statutory accounts
•    Ability to operate effectively in an international and multi-stakeholder environment

Nice-to-Have:
•    Experience working in a shared services or outsourcing model
•    Exposure to joint venture accounting
•    Experience with Power BI or Power Query
•    Experience within the energy sector
